If I schedule this to run at the same time 4:00 am

Delet Old Messages
Purge
Get New Messages

in which order would they run at, or does it matter?

If they are all scheduled for the same time, it'll be in whatever order SQL returns them. I would not do what you are suggesting. Instead, I would suggest this:

12:00AM - Delete Old
1:00AM - Purge
4:00AM - Get new

That way you'll always be sure that:

a) Old messages get immediately purged
b) NMP isn't trying to add new messages to the DB while purging is going on.

Of course, you should double check how long each step is taking, particularly if you plan on keeping a lot of messages, just to make sure they don't overlap.
