|
|
Hi, after installing 2.7 it now uses over 50% CPU on a dual core (E6400) while downloading; previous version used about 20-35%. The download rate is also down by 40-50% but I don't know if that's because NMP is running out of CPU (one thread is maxing a core) or from weekend bandwidth increase on cable. regardless, its now using 2 to 3 times the CPU per amount downloaded.
FWIW I'm using the default database.
Let me know if you want me to gather info/do any tests before I drop back a release. |

If you stop and restart NMP, does it use less at first?

There are two changes in 2.7 that can cause increased CPU usage. Both changes reside in the Scheduler thread:
1) The Event Log was increased from 1000 lines to 2500 lines. As the log fills up, we've found that it can place a higher load on NMP than we expected. Most likely, we'll make this lines user-configurable and you can lower it back to 1000. That seemed to be a good compromise between size and speed.
2) The Scheduler periodically checks for post processing jobs that need to be retried. We are planning to tweak this to prevent the checks from running if the Queue is active and/or there are post processing jobs at all.
Other than that, there are no new changes that could have any effect on normal operations.
