why would it take so long to import batch?

I have a Intel core 2 4 gb mem 500 gb drive, windows xp pro.

It seems that the processing has slowed down.

I am keep 4 days of headers.

Thanks

It's the slowest part of the importing process. You might be able to tweak your MySQL installation to give it more memory. Make sure you have some free space on your disk and defrag the files (without NMP running). It's also dependent on how many headers you have in your DB, not just the number of days you keep. When you purge your DB, make sure you also have it set to run cleanup/optimise.

It is a general trade-off with using a relational database. Importing stuff needs a lot of processing, but in return you get those very fast filters, sorting, lots of functionality, etc.

The only other thing you can do is have a separate disk or even a RAID array, as importing in the DB is more often than not a very diskbound process. Try not to do it when you're running other processes, or downloading or saving out bodies in NMP.
