I just installed 2 more Gig of memory, which should be total 4 GB now, but Windows XP only shows 3.25 GB, is that correct? Thanks

Yes. 32-bit versions of Windows can only "see" approximately that amount of memory. If you have a high-end graphics card (for gaming), it will use some of the remaining memory.
