Had this gfx card a while now, but since theres a hardware forum i will mention it.
The 9800se is basically a 9800pro but half of the 8 pipelines are disabled. Some of the 9800se's components are of a slightly lower grade thus the reason the pipelines are disabled to stop any chance of overheating.
There is a softmod to unlock the other 4 pipelines, but after doing that extra cooling is needed. What i am left with is a card that performs as good as a 9800pro but it was a third of the price.
There are also a lot of variations of the 9800se some of which the softmod doesn't work. I just got lucky. |

Took your advice and am reading your other threads.
I have a Sapphire 9800Pro and it's a great card. I was a little leary buying it (not familiar with Sapphire name), but I came across it for $125 after shipping and said what the hey. I't worked out great. Beats the crap out of my old 5600XT. _________________ Core 2 Duo E6800, 8gb of PC6400, 4 320gb WD SATA HD's, MSI P965 Platinum, Plextor DVDR/RW 760A, Plextor Premium, ATI X1950XT 256mb PCI-E16, Antec P180B Case, Antec True Power Trio 650w Power Supply |
